"Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty criticized the decision to use the $700 billion rescue fund to restructure two domestic automakers.

Pawlenty told a group of reporters today at a breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor that the Obama administration was wrong to swap billions of dollars in loans for equity stakes in General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.

"I strongly opposed the government taking over the auto companies," said Pawlenty."

Pawlenty is not seeking re-election as governor and said he won't make a decision on running for president until early 2012...

Pawlenty, 49, spoke in support of the Oklahoma gubernatorial bid of U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, R-Oklahoma City, and attended a fundraiser for her Tuesday night.

"Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has established political action committees to help him raise money for candidates this year in Iowa and New Hampshire, expected to hold the first 2012 presidential nominating contests.

The move by Pawlenty is a first by a would-be presidential prospect in Iowa, although Pawlenty aides say the maneuver is solely about this November's elections...

"Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, an aspiring Republican candidate for president, has formed a political action committee to help fund New Hampshire candidates for public office.

Pawlenty registered his Freedom First PAC -- New Hampshire Friday. It is chaired by John Lyons, a Portsmouth attorney and chairman of the state Board of Education. The treasurer is Concord lobbyist Bruce Berke."
