Help Scott Brown Stop the Health Care Monstrosity

In the race to replace Senator Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts there is one issue that stands above the rest - health care reform.  The outcome of this special election will have a lasting impact on the health of our nation, both literally and figuratively, for years to come.

Electing Republican State Senator Scott Brown is effectively our last best chance to stall the disastrous health care bill being forced though Congress.

After months of horse (or should we say pork?) trading, Democrats crafted a bill full of special interest giveaways in an effort to pass something, anything, to justify putting their ideological agenda ahead of what Americans care about. And with the slimmest of margins, exactly the 60 votes they needed, that is what they did.  One of those votes was the Democrat interim Senator from Massachusetts to be replaced in next week's contest.

Now, as Congressional Democrats break previous promises of a free and open dialogue to iron out the differences between the two bills, the American people are perilously close to falling victim to a bait and switch of epic proportions.  There may be only one more vote in the Senate on this bill and if Scott Brown doesn't win in Massachusetts, the Democrats will retain their slim margin and are likely to pass this monstrosity.

As this travesty inches closer and closer to becoming law, the American people have begun to realize the damage it will cause.  This is why pubic opinion of the bill continues to reach new lows and supportive politicians continue to see their chances for reelection grow more and more bleak.

The momentum in Massachusetts is on Scott Brown's side because of this issue more than any other.  Like you and me, Brown recognizes that this bill is bad for his state and for the nation as a whole.  Like you and me, he supports free market solutions from Washington that will drive down costs, not a government take over that will drive down quality of care.

This is why Tim Pawlenty has endorsed Scott Brown for U.S. Senate and will be doing all he can in the next few days to help him win that race.  I hope you will join us by using the contribution feature on the new TimPawlenty.com.  Yours is the donation that could finish off the monstrous health care bill in Washington.
