What We're Reading Today

Today, we're reading about the flawed financial reform bill that Democrats are trying to push through Congress, and the reckless spending and historic debt that will affect future generations of Americans.

Wall Street "Reform" Just More Crony Capitalism - Congressman Paul Ryan, RealClearPolitics

"Failure to reform the system poses clear risks, but the frenzied push to score a legislative victory prior to the November midterms with a deeply flawed bill poses greater risk. A good-faith reform effort should not continue indefinitely, but the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, for example, has been essentially cast aside by the very same Congress that tasked the commission to investigate the crisis and issue its report later this year. The Democratic leaders on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue have opted to rush a bill into law, putting ideological goals and campaign strategy ahead of underlying catalysts for real reform."

The Party of Debt - Gary Andres, Weekly Standard

"The Democrats’ growing debt blitzkrieg is also at odds with how American households are responding to the current economic situation. While citizens across this country continue to “de-leverage” – paying down consumer loans and modify spending – Democrats in Congress are in the midst of a massive debt crisis of their own and would rather kick the can than deal with it."

I watched Tim on CNN last night, he sounded like a politician. Big, broad promises that do not speak directly to America's unrest — irresponsible and unsustainable national debt, growing government, a genuine fear that Obama wants a European-style America.

If we're going to win, we have to have the guts to talk straight. Keep it simple, without being patronizing. I can just see the meeting with all the smart GOP research people saying "say this, don't say this, be prepared for this," which is fine — but to get on national television and not talk about what Obama is doing to our economy through debt.... bad call.

I am for you. Please hate all things that sound, feel and act like job-saving (their own jobs) politicians. That's what America is sick of.
